Author's Notes:  This romantic Petrarchan Sonnet, entitled: "Your Look of Precious Love," is a love sonnet set in Iambic Hexameter. This is another love-romance poem along the line of some of the others I've most recently written. As with many of my past writes of a similar nature, this is a very emotive poem because of the subject at hand being discussed. I hope you will find this one of interest!!  (Gary Bateman - December 5, 2014) (Petrarchan Sonnet)

Categories:  allegory, beauty, emotions, feelings, love, romance, and together.

The technical parameters of this Sonnet are rendered as follows:

Syllables Per Line:  12

Total # Syllables:  168

Total # Lines:  14

Total # Words:  127

Rhyme Sequence:  abbaabba | ccddee

Meter:  Iambic Hexameter

("How Many Syllables Counter" was used for syllable confirmation for both automated and manual syllable counts and cross-check.)

Your Look of Precious Love Whilst I gaze so warmly in your eyes my dearest, I see deeply your pure angelic soul of love Reflecting like a radiant flight of a dove, Charting its flight on so high emotions purest! Our spirits ascend high in the sky so clearest To the very boundaries of Heaven my love, Where the power of brightness is God’s best above. Your look of precious love is always mine dearest! When we kiss so passionately our lips so melt, As we caress warmly emotions are so felt! Why we do this darling defines our love so dear, As counts the worth of angels’ blessings to be here! How we love each other so matters on God’s Earth, Your look of so precious love exceeds all gold’s worth! Gary Bateman, Copyright © All Rights Reserved December 05, 2014 (Petrarchan Sonnet)

Many Thanks Carole!! Very pleased you enjoyed my sonnet. I see you dug deep here to find one of my early sonnets posted with Poetry Soup near the end of 2014. I actually started writing and posting with Poetry Soup during August 2014. My, my how time has flown many poems later!! Cheers and Best, Gary

Very romantic poem, Gary. Lush imagery to boot. You are good at what you do for sure. I'm like that untamed stallion, word count, why bother. Just go w/the flow of the creative spirit. But I admire your poetic discipline. Very sweet poem though. Love and many blessings to you and yours.

Hello Freddie, Great to meet you for sure!! And thanks very much for your gracious comments and observations here. Believe me, I understand where you're coming from. I write all types of poetry. I do enjoy, at times, the more structured and metered types of writes. But I would also add that following your own sense of the "creative spirit" is just as important. And also, in the end, really finding your "true poetic voice." I've learned this all takes patience, time, and true desire to write. Feel free to read any of my poems as you choose. I'll check out your poetry too!! Best Wishes, Gary

Regardless, I'll always be producing poems too!! Talk to you soon. Cheers and Best, Gary

Hello Dear One Linda!! Thanks so much for your very wonderful comments here my Petrarchan Sonnet from Dec 2014. I always enjoy hearing from you. I haven't forgotten you!! (I'm currently off-line momentarily with Poetry Soup probably up to and through March 2016, as I'm working on several major Prose Writes and a Novelette for my next-planned book in 2017. This book will also feature a major section of selected poems, of course, -- and so it will be a big book!!) I'll have a lot of poetry to post to Poetry Soup when I return after March. I hope all is going very well for you into the New Year!! Best Wishes Always!! Cheers, Gary

Hello Sharon!! Thanks so much for your congrats and your very nice words here. Ingrid and I wish you and your family as well a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! I've been away from my writing for a few days with other tasks. I plan to have my first book of poetry published by May-June 2015. I've been quite busy with that too. I hope 2015 is a great year for all of us!! Gary

Gary, what a wonderful poem. Makes a person think why one can never truly stop oneself from falling in love, because of the promise and possibility of being with that other person destiny has prepared for you. Cheers for finding and staying with yours, and the POTD! Sorry for being remiss, your friend was busy. Kim Patrice:)

Kim!! Thanks for your visit and read. I'm pleased you enjoyed this sonnet. (FYI, I just released another romantic sonnet following this one on 9 December called: "What Our Dreams Are Made Of," and it kind of got less attention than this POTD selection, but in my eyes it is equally as good!!) I appreciate your being busy too. Best Wishes to You!! Gary

Ovidiu, We put and well said indeed!! As poets and dreamers we are all merchants and purveyors of the written word as we seek to understand the depths and emotions of the human psyche and use our quill pens to craft the words and verses for mankind. The verses do write themselves!! Thanks for your read and comments!! Best Wishes Always, Gary

Demetrios, Thank you so much for your most wonderful words here!! I like those words ". . . beacon of happiness on earth and in heavens." (That's another good theme for a poem!!) I will posting another sonnet very soon: "What Dreams Are Made Of" -- similar to this one. My wife likes my Love-Romance poems (better than the dark ones - HA HA!!). Best Always!! Gary
