Notes About The Poem

For A - Types Of Forms Poetry Contest/ Sponsor: Constance La France

i carry your heart with me (i carry it in] - E. E. Cummings - Clea McLemore

Your Heart

1. "I carry your heart with me (I carry it in my heart) I am never without it..." E.E. Cummings

You gave to me your heart when we were young.
On stars we danced, and on the moon we swung.
Unfailingly your heart beat just for me.
Rhapsody’s composers of romance were we.

Honey of your sweet lips. . . I taste it still.
Eventide consumes me with thoughts of you.
As shadows slink in and sun slides behind the hill,
Rivers of memories flood me through and through.
Tears fall. I have loved your heart, and I always will.

Dear Andrea, this is another beautiful, exquisite write from you. A wonderful acrostic full of reminiscence of past memories of love. So well written and touching. I love the line, ‘ As shadows slink in and sun slides behind the hill’ and the last line especially. That last line is very poignant. Good luck in the contest. Constance will love this. I did ! :):)

Andrea, this is beautiful. Each line resonates with thoughts of love for another person and good times had. The sadness at the end is still bathed in loving tribute. A favorite!!!

Dear Andrea, your poetic tribute to enduring love is an absolute treasure. The way you capture the timeless essence of E.E. Cummings' iconic lines of tender memories and eternal devotion is truly breathtaking. Your poetic voice transported me to a realm of romance and rhapsody, where hearts intertwine, and love transcends the boundaries of time and space. It is a beautiful, heartfelt piece that connects deeply with the universal yearning for a love that endures forever. - Blessings, Daniel
