Your Averted Eyes

Please look me in my eyes filled with tears
What are you hiding from me, my love?
You're looking down sobbing, my dear
My heart is hurting like an injured dove

Your shame is intensely scaring me
But I am trying not to hurt
And thinking we may no longer be "we"
Feels like you're stomping my heart in the dirt

Please tell me!! The suspense is killing my heart!
You whisper the words, and I put out a whole bunch of whys
What you just told me, shattered and tore me apart
Now I understand your averted eyes
