You Will Never Ever Change

You'll never ever change

I see you looking at him,
as he crosses the street,
He takes a chance with glances,
and I see your eyes meet

You may be feeling guilty,
when you take a look at me,
It's true that I don't look like him,
but, I've fallen at your feet

Chorus
And you promise-say, you're honest
that it will never happen again,
And you promise-say you're honest
but, I know, I know, yeah I know,
that... you'll never, ever change

You're talking with your girlfriends,
and it's not about me
They all know what you're up to,
that you want to be free

I hear you whisper on the phone,
while in the other room
I sense that something's coming,
and my heart is filled with gloom

Chorus
And you promise-say, you're honest
that it will never happen again,
And you promise-say you're honest
but, I know, I know, yeah I know,
that... you'll never ever change

You say you're going out with friends,
you'll be gone for a few days
but, I know where you're going,
'cause I know your wily ways

Chorus
And you promise-say, you're honest
that it will never happen again,
And you promise-say you're honest
but, I know, I know, yeah I know,
that... you'll never ever change

You're back from your long weekend,
with a smile back on your face
Your story has some loopholes,
and your smile seems out of place

A month or so has passed, but then,
I see you notice him
You may try your best to hide it,
but I think, here you go again

Chorus
And you promise-say, you're honest
that it will never happen again,
And you promise-say you're honest
but, I know, I know, yeah I know,
that... you'll never ever change

It's been months, since you've been gone
now you're back and on your knees
You tell me just how bad it's been
and you're begging pretty please

You know I've got a special place,
inside my heart for you
You know I'll always take you back,
no matter what you do

Chorus
And you promise-say, you're honest
that it will never happen again,
And you promise-say you're honest
but, I know, I know, yeah I know,
that... you'll never ever change

but, I know, I know, yeah I know,
that... you'll never ever change
but, I know, I know, yeah I know,
that... you'll never ever change

repeat and fade

"You know I'll always take you back, no matter what you do" Not exactly the best choice to make. Sometimes, love is blind. In the sense- the mind/heart isn't thinking clear. Beware tangling such emotions. They Bite in the End. Most of the time. Your thoughts -lyrics always move me. ~ Brandy

Thanks Brandy, sorry for the late response, missed this one somehow. This song is not personal it's just a song, but your caution is well noted. Thanks for passing by and leaving your comment!

I always sing a long to your lyrics... I do wonder if someone could steal these and make a song from them . Keep an eye out lol

Yeah, anythings possible these days. I did have one of my first songs stolen back in 82, stopped writing for 30 years because of it. Talking to my lawyer he says don't worry if someone steals your song we'll just sue, one way or another they will pay, just look at Ed Sheeran! Thanks for the kind visit SO!

Hi John, You have penned a song that is very relatable. We have all have experienced being with someone that didn't appreciate us. Good lyrics and content. I really enjoyed the chorus ( I can't get it out of my head, I sang it instead of reading it). I can't wait for your album to drop. Have a great weekend:-) Alexis

Thanks Lexi, I'm glad you were able to sing it, that's a sign of a quality write, so I am thankful for your great comment. As for the album dropping...don't hold your breath, it's tough going to get one song done these days!

Definitely reads like a well played song. The version I sang in my head was probably different then yours...but just the same both versions have the same good feelings through your words. Well done John. Charlie

One can see this scene and feel the pain of this one John, it hits right in the heart...taking them back never does any good because they know they can play the heart of the fool who does so...excellent penning my friend! hugs

Really cool John. It just came to you today? I think this is one of your best though that final verse...I think I'd let her go. That is too much heartbreak to deal with. Nicely done my friend.

Yeah Chris, thinking back to my first life I couldn't take her back, who knows maybe it was in the back of my mind for 30 years, who knows why things come out, but remarkably this one flowed pretty much as is, a couple of edits and an hour later voila. Thanks for the high praise, I hope something comes of it!

This deeply touches me, John. I know this story well and I love the chorus the best. Just as in life this behaviour repeats just like the chorus of a song.
