Notes About The Poem

You Were There

You were there When I took the chance Risked my heart Ventured past the known Into the foreign You were there When I listened to hope Awaited that moment When I knew I could try Dancing in the rain Forgetting all the pain And hearing, instead The sunshine praise, prayers For love that kissed my soul With kindness and joy You were there When I waited patiently For my dreams to come true For God to come through For light to pierce the dark And wisdom to awake In the soul of this heart Who knows that real love Comes from heaven above You were there When I asked God for faith To take that chance, face the challenge And hear the grace that abounds When God whispers His blessing Across a tender spirit You were there When I learned how to care With insight and inspiration Sincerity and serenity, a sense of Giving generously, eternally Gifts from the heart Who God has painted in hues Of tenderness and gentleness Feelings that whisper warmly With a compassion meant for giving From the heart, mind and spirit You were there I know that you cared And I would like to thank you For being a light in the darkness A whisper of love to my soul A friend who isn’t afraid To give without expectation To live with grace, hope and faith With a love that knows no limits Thank you for being there For you, I’ll always be thankful
