You Were the One

You were the one who called me yours,
promised me love behind closed doors.
You said I was the love of your life,
got down on one knee, asked me to be your wife.

You were the one who told me,
"Don’t let love pass you by."
I held those words so tightly—
now I just sit and cry.

You said love was everything,
that it could heal, restore, and mend.
But now I’m left with silence—
a wall we built instead.

You told me love would conquer all,
but all it did was make me fall.
Not into your arms, not into your grace—
but into a void you wouldn’t face.

You were the one I trusted most,
but now I feel like a fading ghost.
What we had is come and gone—
between our love…
was where it all went wrong.
