Author's Notes: "You Told Me Never Again My Love," is a Rhymed Couplet I wrote and set in a mixed meter. I wrote this poem to address a very important facet of "love" as a "most sacred trust between two people." I wrote this as an artistic thought piece and it should not viewed as autobiographical. However, having been married now for nearly 25 years has at least given me some perspective on certain pitfalls that can make life and being married, at times, to be indeed challenging. What I've attempted to sketch out in this scenario between a couple who have been traditionally in love, is a sense of the difficulty and complexity that can befall any couple when seeds of doubt and certain strife present themselves in any relationship. I can certainly attest, even with the best of intentions, many of us can fall short of our goals and desires -- and this also can end up being a thread of realism in many relationships. Such is the challenge that any couple may face when they share the most sacred trust of love between one another -- for life with a true-found love is one that must renewed and nurtured year by year!! Something to think about!! (Gary Bateman - October 25, 2015) (Rhymed Couplet)
