Notes About The Poem

Quite often in serous matters a persn can have opinions that are well founded and we have every right to express thse opinions. We do not have the right to regale our friends and family all the time, every day, at every oportunity and throw a wet banket on every phoone call or visit.  If you do that people will avoid you like a bad cold.  You can be aware of the seriousness of the matter without steeping yourself in it non stop every day and letting it rob you of the joy of life.

You Talk Too Much

You talk too much,
You worry and you fret.
You're angry about everything,
I wish that I were deaf.

You just talk, talk, talk, talk,
You talk too much.

You fuss, you cuss, expostulate,
You have no peace of mind.
Seems life for you is misery,
And you're just marking time.

You just talk, talk, talk, talk,
You talk too much.

You talk about religion,
Politics, the law,
The morals of the common man,
And their decline and fall.

You just talk, talk, talk, talk,
You talk too much.

Your conversation doesn't change,
It's always the same.
It's like some foolish little game,
In which the rules are plain.

You just talk, talk, talk, talk,
You talk too much.

You're the one who's always right,
The one who knows the score.
Your opinion of the utmost,
There isn't room for more.

You just talk, talk, talk, talk,
You talk too much.

If I offer up a different view,
You look down and scoff.
I wish there was a switch somewhere,
So I could turn you off.

You just talk, talk, talk, talk,
You talk too much.

There are many like that. If they would read this and improve. Good one, can be an eye opener for many. I avoid such people.

Like Robert's comment below, instantly was taken back to 1960. and Joe Jones. Your version would make a good song as well Judy..Especially if the message gets through.

I believe that you heard my wife talking about me!! LOL! I do get a little bit windy at times... Then again, I was born right here in the Windy City, and she's from Ukraine, where she learned to zip her lip up tight! (Brothers Kruschev, Brezhnev, et al were listening in). Great one, Judy. Love the message and the snappy rhythm! ~ growl, gw

Reading this reminded me of the 1960 hit song with the same title recorded by Joe Jones. This is well-written and a good read.
