You Needed Me

Deep in the night, I heard a call of desparate need
No words were uttered, not a sound was made
Was it your heart searching, reaching out for me
Desire was not the issue, passion not at stake
You had fallen ill with fever, your body did ache
A soothing hand, a cool drink and me by your side
Was all that you needed, all that you required
Is this a milestone that we have passed
As our relationship continues to grow
I want to be the one to take care for you
Now and each day as we grow old
Love is more than passion and hunger in the night
Love is being together, someone to hold you tight
To take care of you in sickness and in health
To be at your side forever whatever life does bring
