You Name It

The classic names of nursing homes
make me want to puke and groan

  How about 'Celestial Gardens?'
great place to dump your 'burden'

  Then there's 'Sunset Terrace'
at sundown, for embalming they prepare us

Good old 'Live the Moment,' of course
where they put octogenarians in the workforce

Not to forget sparkling 'Milky Way'
careful what they put in your 'tay'

Yet there is a certain appeal to a fancy-name place
~ if you delight in the extinction of the human race

My neighbors, in their early seventies are so precious. They have schedules surrounding his mother, who is in her 90's and has had problems do to aging for the past six years. They go to her home, and care for her. Her family never leave her alone, keeping her safe and comfortable. Beautiful people. I hope their own children will respect them so well. She's so lucky. I know of much younger and healthier folks whose kids got them out of the way for less reasons and didn't live very long. So sad.

I once asked one of my yeshiva high school classes what 'convalescent' meant (as in convalescent center). Every kid wrote down something to the effect of 'Pre-death institution' I marked every one of those answers 'correct!'

Powerful write and a fav, Those names? Arg! How many adults care for an aging parent in their homes..you know they do not. Sometimes children cannot! So there are two sides to the story. Some can, some cannot depending on the disease. I have visited nursing homes during holidays. All residents in wheel chairs, no family. It was a gift to be with them. And we visited homes on Chanukah, too Medical staff pushes assisted suicide in CA like crazy….killers like abortionists. Pangie.

Howdy Gershon, Had nephew who would threaten his mom,in her early forties, with a ficticious place called Deaths Door.He had a dark sense of humor.

Celestial Gardens would be a great name for a cemetary though!
