You Know You Live In a Democracy When
You know you live in a democracy,
When you can vote and come away with two hands,
When most prisoners come out of their sentence alive,
You know you live in a democracy.
You know you live in a democracy ,
When leaders have an exit strategy when they lose an election.
When bullet proof glass is never a sale item,
You know you live in a Democracy.
You know you live in a democracy,
When women can stand for the highest office.
When you see the police turn the other cheek sometimes,
You know you live in a democracy.
You know you live in a democracy,
When family connections can only take you so far.
When joining a union is not a death sentence,
You know you live in a democracy.
You know you live in a democracy,
When legal aid is a thing,
When you can take a private prosecution against a politician,
You know you live in a democracy.
You know you live in a democracy,
When women are free to apply for any occupation.
