You Know Me, Lord

Lord, You made me and You know me,
You know my thoughts and all my fears;
You know all my deepest longings,
You hear my laughter, see my tears.

Before I speak a word, You know it,
My heart is bare before Your eyes.
Nothing is ever hidden from You,
You see through any disguise.

I cannot hide where You can't find me,
It's impossible to do.
Your presence fills up all the earth, Lord,
Even the dark is light to You.

My days were written in Your book, Lord,
Before a single one played out.
You have a plan and purpose for me,
Of this I'm sure, I have no doubt.

Why would I ever want to leave You?
You've given life and breath to me.
You are my God, my only Savior,
Without Your love, where would I be?

Search my heart, my mind, my soul, Lord,
For any sinful, wicked ways.
Forgive me, cleanse me, make me whole,
And I will always sing Your praise.

written 7/20/09 based on Psalm 139

How refreshing to know that my days are written in God's Book and my life has purpose. A great reminder.

Beautiful poem, Kim. I based some of mine on the Psalms and they do have a certain quality to them that can't be beat. God bless, Isaiah

This is beautiful writing Kim and your rhyming and the metre is good. I am a Christian Kim, but I'm not sure that God ordains everything that happens to us. For some people in the world, eg the people of Syria right now, surely God hasn't planned it that are in a living hell whilst we here in England are not. But anyway, that's my thoughts, but I loved your poem.
