You? In 50 Words Or Less

You say I've never written you a poem.
I want to; I've tried.
You know, I used to write them,
once...
Funny how the things that matter most
Cannot be put into words:

The dancing light in your eyes
Your intoxicating scent that still
teases me from the pillow
after you've gone
Your lips that
from the moment they touched mine
breathed me to life
Your laugh so contagious
that even when I think of it
I smile

All of these qualities make up you
but are not you...
You I could never put into words.
I want to; I've tried.
This is why I've never written you a poem.
