You Hurt Me

My memory's my enemy
When thoughts of you pervade,
Recalling blissful times
When we laughed and played.
My mind's now full of poison
By the hurt that you created,
Disturbing all my belief's,
Reflections are serrated.
Why did you do this to me?
What motivated you?
Your words will hurt forever,
My heart's been cut in two.

Thank you Aiyah for visiting and commenting. Sometimes it is hard to move away from those you love, even though they hurt you.

Cheers, Elizabeth, well done. I disagree with you and Chris, here, though - I've really not been through it, that "one person" has not happened to me yet. Not that I'm immune - it could certainly happen; my wife could do it, for example. Yet while I understand, I really can't relate to that massive 'hurt' from another; nobody's really ever done that to me - I've done it all. Everything seriously bad - I've done it to myself.

When you were doing the seriously bad stuff to yourself then Doug you were probably also hurting others.... hope you are through all of that now.

I believe this is something we have all been through, maybe more than once, but either way we do get past them but when those memories come back again, they sure can ruin the day. Nicely expressed Elizabeth.

Someone has the ability to keep hurting me, most of the time I'm fine but every now and then those memories surface.

I like the short but powerful impact this poem has on the reader, and I agree, memories can be our own worse enemy, and prevent us from healing:) Amitiés
