You Feed Yourself the Whys

You're fooling yourself
You don't need that to fly
You don't need that to burn
You don't need that to cry.
Use it as an excuse
Blot out reason for why?
Try to justify
But don't expect me to see why
You don't even try
A day would soon go by
A start of being dry?
But what the hell's the use?
Of trying to convince you?
You don't need that to fly
Let it rule your life
Let it take control of your mind
Why should you put up a fight?
Sit there, drink it all tonight!
Your pride's too tough to make the call
To stand and look into your eyes
To face up to your lies
You feed yourself the whys!
The reasons you despise
The man behind your eyes
You don't listen to his cries.

Thanks Paula. This is a poem about my late father and the effect his alcoholism had on me. Glad you liked it. Cheers.
