You Can Tell They Are Gods Children

You can tell they are Gods children
from the fruit from off their tree
you can tell they are Gods children
by the presents brought to thee

Mary Mitchell Slessor
was a bow that bridges Heaven
with the love for all Gods children
she brought peace and love to thee

The Queen of the all Okoyong
she fought, her whole life long
in a battle built of passion
and a hymn she sang out strong

She fought against mythology
the laws for killing twins
She fought against the violence
with respect her only crown

She stood up to the warriors
then drunk with English Rum
she stood up to the Chiefs and kings
and sometimes made them run

She fought against injustice
she fought against the pain
and made a better living
in the forest and the rain

In truth she was the queen of love
her fruit both strong and true
she stopped the wars of hatred
in the forest and dew
