You Auctioned My Love Away

You auctioned my love
Because you couldn't pay
The price of keeping me
In good repair...
Too time consuming
Too hard
Too demanding
Too tough
And so you auctioned me away

You auctioned my love away
And watched
All the bidders
In a frenzy of excitement
Raising the price
sky high
For my finish was fine
Aesthetically pleasing
A "masterpiece"
They did not see
They did not know
What you auctioned was flawed
You auctioned me away

You auctioned my love away
“Going once…
Going twice…
Going three times…..
Gone!”

You cried a little on the inside
When you saw hands reach for me
Mr Auctioneer
But the tears were not enough
Not the tears of sacrifice
Which was the greater price
For having me
How can you keep something beautiful
Without the sacrifice of time
Emotions
Energy
And your very soul?
Too great a price
And so you auctioned me away

You auctioned my love away
And to this day
You wonder where I've gone
Where I've been hung
Which wall I decorate
How I’m being handled of late
You auctioned me away

You auctioned my love away
And now you pay
Now you pay….

This is a beautiful poem of an ancient moral. Reminds me of what I told an old competitor of mine a very long time ago Eileen, that I always get my treasures back! Fine Art must be allowed to mature. You are so uninsurable woman. J.A.B.

Did you competitor write poetry, Justin? You have an edge. :) You always get your treasures back. Fine line. Fine fighting spirit. Thank you, Justin, for seeing the good in me. It does give me immeasurable joy.

I would bid on you my sweet... You are worthy of time, compassion and endless energy. And yet it requires a deep well of soul to hold such passionate waters as you. Some loves are better lost than to leave one thirsting for more. A truly passion filled write I enjoyed! Stay sweet my dear Eileen <3

Awwwww...how sweet you are, Sarai. I thank you. I know I'm not an easy person. My insecurities often get the better of me. I need constant reassurance. Can be tiring...but on the flip side...I love to give. "Some loves are better lost than to leave one thirsting for more." You are a wise woman, my dear. Thank you for your visit and kindness to me. I never forget kindness! Hugs

Your love is a treasure and I can't imagine anyone being foolish enough to auction a gift of such immeasurable value. You are so creative my dear, I was mesmorized from start to finish. On a different subject, I am so pleased to see your name back on your poems! I am once again content.

Thank you, Richard, but what I feared would happen, happened. :( Some unfortunate message about my "depressive" writes. I may reconsider a pseudonym. I feel more and more restricted in what I can write, but for now...Eileen should do. Did you know that it is originally an Irish name? Do you know the meaning? A great light! That's what my name means! :) I like it. Thanks for saying my love is a treasure...I'm welling up so I'll stop here. Hugs

"Now you pay…." I like this part! But it really is happening among us with an unstoppable course.Even in my country that was famous for faithfulness of it's people.we simply forget each other & we throw our loved ones away like objects.and that hearts,it really does. Thanks Eileen, your taste for drama is originally oriental & touching!Wish u the best -Moein

I know...I'm so sad about the situation. You need to keep hoping and believing and being a positive influence. Thank you for your visit, Moein...As to your Poem, Caress...No, I don't remember the original song. I left when I was very young....and some of the music and literature is lost on me, but I love the language...so much! Thanks for the visit.

Just my luck! Nobody informed me of this auction!! I'm not rich, but I would have at least made a bid, out of support for you. Lovely, sad and touching poem, but this dark cloud will soon scatter with the wind and the light will shine again. // paul

Some idea that was floating around in my head this morning. had to catch it down before it floated away. Thanks for reading. I'm afraid I'm getting people worried about me, but...life isn't all sunshine and roses...is it. I have euphoric poems too...and poems about nature...joy and life...I guess lately I've been struggling a bit more. This too shall pass. Hugs
