You Are Not the Girl

You are not the girl I used to know in those days You’re now a shadow Of those sweet things I saw then Oh how time changes… It pains! ~I just wonder why some angels turn to devils later, may be due to certain circumstances. It happens to some lovely little girls who grow up to become sluts due to harsh economic situations. I have a big burden in my heart for them. I wish the world will change for them!

Oh, how this pains me also! Yet it is very beautiful and insightful too... I agree with Sara's take on this...I actually reseached this subject once and found that the majority of female prostitutes (and porn stars) grew up experiencing not only harsh economic situations but also some form of sexual abuse in their past...Thanks for bringing up this very important issue! - Tim

There are many reasons for promiscuious behavior from sexual molestation to just needing a male in her life when she was growing up to be a guide, a protector, and a boundary maker and enforcer..Keep the informative writes flowing.Sara

I am constantly learning from others like you on this site. These lines are wonderful. I have seen this same change in youngsters with promise who because of circunstance grow up to not know their self worth. Nice to know you better Adeleke.

This very good poem is so true. What hurts worse, I think but do not know, would be to marry such a girl as this. I can not speak from experience.........Charles
