You Are a Poet and Don'T Know It

YOU'RE A POET AND DON'T KNOW IT
When it comes to writing a poem
The field is exceedingly wide
Write all you can
And your skill will expand
You may begin to see a new side

Don't let the bad weather faze you
Its color is what you abide
Form words in your mind
And you quickly will find
New thoughts will give you a ride

Life should be lived in its fullness
Yet be careful with how you fulfill it
Your thoughts and your words
As you closely observe
May cause you to need to just chill it

If you feel you have something to say
Say only that which is kind
Then you'll know soon enough
That it wasn't just fluff
Which you had in your own little mind

No matter how plain are your words
And how lovely they sound to yourself
There always will be
Those who will flee
And want you back on a shelf

Keep trying to write all you can
With different modes and design
Learn new ways to do it
As you slowly go through it
At last your poetry will shine
