You Are a Memory

Melancholy beats Slow piano plays deep soft voices Singing words of anguish Memories flow, as the river floods This ebony face once again the flooded streets of heartache. Smiles of bliss when your pain was not an issue Your embraces, your kiss, forever stained on my memory Hoping to wash it away with the downpour of rain, I love you though I don’t want to Remembering these words, I spoke, only to have it unanswered. Memories of you, only having to miss you longer than I have known you Feeling unglued, worlds crashing, pain surging Hollowness, forever an invited guest. I search high and low through the night in hopes to find remnants of you like shattered glass, in blinded belief that I if gather these shattered shards piece by piece you will return to me. Bittersweet memory of your tender affection, of actually wanting to be with me. I was not a toy, waiting to be pulled out and played with Or a set of matches waiting to ignite your fire You saw every flaw, every cracked stone, my hidden bones of worthlessness You never ran You loved me with ease, like breathing air You are a memory that holds me hostage inside of my head, inside of this body A memory in a far away reality, that once existed Filled with unspoken love, and heartfelt memories.

Hello Debbie Walker, it sounds to me like you found your true love. Yet he is gone. You miss him. Hugs.
