You and Me

We borrowed time
We stole each other
We danced to our own rhyme
We loved one another

I remember you back then
I remember our shared story pen
I remember how we wrote our words to remember those days
I remember the joy of our ways

I can still smell the sea, hear the wind through the trees
I close my eyes and it connects with some deep memory
I catch a glow of the summer sun
I see your smile light up the room

I sometimes let my mind roam free
Find where you are here in me
Explore the memories of our days back then
When we had nothing but we had everything

When we could run and roll in the sea
When love could burn hotter than flame
When everyday felt like it would remain
When loving you was all I desired

I just wanted to let you know
Life may punch, kick, tear, rip when it takes hold
But those memories are ours and not just mine
I still see that smile in your eyes

I love you more than I possibly can
I feel the warmth of my life when I hold your hand
I guard my kisses because I only kiss you
My soul will never stop being in love with you
