You
What can I say about a person
who's turned me into their prey thing.
I've turned a cheek a few dozen times
taken on the burden of your procrastination
though always at a heavy price-
You look at my passiveness as weakness
another opportunity to pile on more B.S.
You've shrugged off, even snickered at my ideas
only later to turn them into your own..
Your rewards becoming my defeats
my defeats are a light in your beacon.
The powers that be don't see it
you know how to wave charm over stink-
….and it's not just me
there are many others before me.
With similar stories but we're voiceless..
I was warned about your mischief.
Your slight of hand-gift of manipulation..
I didn't listen.
I even took your side at times
but they were right
You DO take advantage when it fits your agenda.
Then sweet talk your way back into line
Then rinse and repeat time after time-
I didn't take the bait this time.
I went silent-that is my biggest crime.
Wouldn't let myself be your toy anymore.
I stifled your aggressiveness-your controlling ways
with the sweet simplicity of silence.
Your crime is that it makes you feel big
when you control the little that I have.
What I give you is a sprig of forgiveness
and that is what makes me bigger
than the sum of your ego and ID.
