I found a photo the other day, Deep in a desk - so tucked away, A summer meadow full of cars, Vital youths with eyes of stars, 'Midst revelry of songs unsung - The simple joys of being young ... (A joy drowned with the past ... by complex worlds that spin too fast - much too fast). There was no celebration more Deserved of giving plaudits for, Than being young, in love, alive! With all the callow care to thrive, No grand occasion needed, then - A jaunty blossom, life back when ... (A blossom plucked and pressed ... between life's pages, now distressed - dispossessed). Now, those poignant seeds are sown - Flights of yester-dreams have flown ... (Long flown and tucked away ... deep in a desk ... now turning gray - old and gray). ~ 1st Place ~ in the "Back When" Poetry Contest, Line Gauthier, Judge & Sponsor.

From a simple black and white photo to a tribute to youth - this is a terrific nostalgic journey, Greg. I enjoyed taking it with you. Also appreciate the parenthetical with their modified rhythms and tinges of sadness on looking back. Great title, too! Poetic plaudits ~ John
