I found a photo the other day,
Deep in a desk - so tucked away,
A summer meadow full of cars,
Vital youths with eyes of stars,
'Midst revelry of songs unsung -
The simple joys of being young ...
(A joy drowned with the past ...
by complex worlds that spin too fast - much too fast).
There was no celebration more
Deserved of giving plaudits for,
Than being young, in love, alive!
With all the callow care to thrive,
No grand occasion needed, then -
A jaunty blossom, life back when ...
(A blossom plucked and pressed ...
between life's pages, now distressed - dispossessed).
Now, those poignant seeds are sown -
Flights of yester-dreams have flown ...
(Long flown and tucked away ...
deep in a desk ... now turning gray - old and gray).
