YES ABOUT A DRESS
El, please come shopping with me today,
He knew she would ask him anyway,
Sure Honey, he immediately lit
A cigarette, we’ll leave in a bit!
Shopping with Jen wasn’t too much fun,
She was fussy, and took too long to choose
What to buy,
This was going to be a long day El thought
Oh my!
And the worst thing of all was at 2 o’clock
On TV,
Was a football game he wanted to see!
He loved Jen and this was a small
Sacrifice to make,
She did a lot for him, he would not be grumpy
For her sake.
They arrive at the mall, park their car, and walk
Into a shop,
She loved what she saw in the window, wow,
But the assistant who approached her was rude,
El got angry and called her a cow!
The mall was extremely busy, but Jen
Spied a dress she liked very much
El however wanted a snack, too late for breakfast
And too early for lunch,
So they had brunch!
They finished, got up and went to the shop where
Jen had spied the dress,
I like this one she said, and began to undress,
El knew Jen wanted to look spiffy,
And hopefully thought, she might buy this dress in jiffy!
Jen had put on some weight in the last
Month or two,
But was determined to find a dress,
Although the shop’s stock was sparse,
And their dresses few.
She was a size fourteen, but there was only
A size twelve so she tried it on,
It didn’t look good, her good humour
Was gone!
You look slightly plump in a 12, El had to
Tell her,
Which did create a bit of a stir!
El put his arms round her and said you are
Gorgeous,
Buts lets be a little more cautious,
For you want to look the best at our Local fair,
We will soon find a dress that looks lovely
And that you’ll want to wear!
The shops were nearing closing time,
Jen had to find dress
The fair was on Sunday, and today
Was Saturday!
They went into several other shops and boutiques
They found nothing, this was becoming
A crisis!
For we were minus,
An important outfit, this function was big,
And so would be the fashions
As well as heartfelt passions,
To look the best,
Jen had my compassion!
How complicated it is to be a woman,
And have to compete
With a multitude of others,
Damn!
Guys are not the same,
We do not take part in this kind of game!
At 10 minutes to five we step in the door
Of an insignificant little shop,
And an older lady comes out,
With such a glory of white hair,
It looked like a mop.
She says to Jen, I’ve been watching you,
You are the young lady who paid my
Bus fare,
And who showed such empathy and care,
She pulled out a stick, it looked like a fairy
Tale wand,
Waved it and Jen was dressed
In the best
Of any dress!
She would certainly create a sensation,
With such a marvellous, creation!
Jen turned round to thank the kind lady,
But she was gone,
And so ended their day long shopping marathon,
Jen exclaimed that the kind lady must have been
Her fairy god mother,
It could be no other!
The lady with the glory of white hair that resembled a mop,
Also left Jen a note wishing her loads of fun,
And that she would win the admiration
of everyone,
And further told Jen not to hesitate to call
Her if ever,
She needed a favour!
Jen and El went to the fair the next day,
And Jen was the talk of the town,
El told everyone, that he was so proud,
But it was Jen who shouted out loud
That it was she that was proud,
El really needed a medal!
He was so supportive, put up with her tantrums
And frustrations, and did not quit,
Showed no exasperation, and didn’t split,
Never once did he meddle!
Jen always knew he was a great guy,
From the day that she vowed
To be his wife,
For the rest of her life!
