Yellow Canvas Shoes
Dangerous balancing act on center yellow,
somewhere betwixt someone’s write and who’s left.
Tempting banana’s savory splits and discarding bitter lemons.
Tiptoeing comfortable dandelions and fragile yellow pansies,
unwilling to crush feelings of yellow inadequacy.
Purity of white soles bear the weight of dark amber.
Sunrays dance on white lace,
attracting yellow’s wayward monarch butterflies.
Some may say within yellow lurks cowardice and caution.
I say yield, for there’s mystery in yellow canvas
and it’s mellow is distilling a vagabond’s whiskey sunlight.
