Yearning For You

I lounge in a chair, waiting.
I yearn as I watch
your delightful dance,
guitars strumming, flute haunting,
xylophone resonating.

You swirl, twirl, pause,
stoop, pirouette, spin as I’m glued to my chair.
Your skirt whirls, arms flail,
hips swing. You twist, swivel
as beads of sweat trickle
down your face, like a rivulet of emotion,
smudge your make-up,
but still untiring, the show goes on.

Your eyes gleam, your face beams,
I hear your laugh.
Still I sit and wait,
The music slows in a dulcet melody,
I yearn to dance with you and hold you tight,
But all I can do is wait.

"...a dulcet melody,..." Nicely stated Victor. Sweet, nostalgic, typical you. Linda

Delightful and melancholy at the same time. You flash the scene in front of the reader with exquisite detail and imagery. A talented write, as always, Victor.
