Yearn With No Regrets

I often yearn for just one day
that I will
     dance
       and sing
           and play
But now this dreaded Parkinson's
has taken that away
Dance like no one is watching
is what I yearn to do
But my dancing legs no longer can
      Foxtrot
          Tango
               Or even Can Can
At times my legs can barely walk
they shuffle all around my home
Somehow feeling so much worse
when one lives all alone

Singing is much harder as my voice begins to fade
But even though it may well go
     I won't give in
           I love to sing
Such joy my Parkinson’s choir doth bring
So I will sing
though even when
no one can hear me sing a thing

And lastly how I yearn to play
Like when I was a child
     I'd skip
          and hop
              and run
                 and jump
I was a child just running wild

I yearn with no regrets
For my life has been a good one
So in my head despite the P
     I dance
         and sing
             and play each day

Praying a cure is not too far away...

Congrats on placing in The Y contest! You are far more than a place in a contest. You are phenomenal as a positive friend. You see beauty while others are blind to it. You care for a pet that is not your own? Who does that? You love life despite your illness! You are not your illness. Your spirituality doth shine, Ann! Love, Pangie xoxo

Ann, congratulations on your Third Place win in my "Y" Contest. Parkinson is a terrible condition because the mind is okay but the body is not. I really like your presentation too ~ peace and tranquility _Constance

Hello Sis Across the Pond. We have so much in common! No matter what is going on now, we both had auspicious lives, mates, pets and grandchildren. We remember the past with gratitude. We share similar attitudes as well as likes in dress, colors..lshoes, too! Wow. I have no regrets, Ann. Dancing was fun. Life is not over, who knows what's aheads. Pangie

Ann, I'm fortunate to have many ills, but none of them Parkinson's. I know it can rob a person of mobility, and so, I sympathize with you. I have arthritis in my knees. I no longer can dance, but...oh, wait, I can do so in my head. Much of life for us, now, is good memories of all the wonderful times we experienced as the years raced by. Happy holidays, my friend.
