Endeavored romance, bolstered and cried Then came the night, my music died One last attempt, a foiled finished taste A devoted passion, soon laid to waste Recovered contentment, felled for the count Heartache and pain, a stable failed surmount End of life with its completion of care A quickened loss for incessant despair The dark night recalled; cessation dispense Atonement is sought, assume recompense My last night on Earth, withdrawn in vain My death for your love, this life for your pain 12/1/21 “Y” Contest, New Poems – Poetry Contest Sponsor: Constance La France
