Yawning of the Day

With royal robe in purple hue
A morning tiptoes into dawn
Watch how light glitters from the hem
This day that stretches with a yawn

With bloom of atmospheric blue
A day turns pink above the rim
This day that stretches with a yawn
Across the voids of distance, dim

This day that stretches with a yawn
Arise the sunlight, red and gold
The face of nature's blushing skin
With pastel linens day unfolds

To stand as witness to the new
The morning, springs alive within
This day that stretches with a yawn
As all the world begins again

When day warms bright, in noontime sun
Then waits to beckon evening's song
Again the blush the twilight grins
This day that stretches with a yawn

Those first rays of sunlight are like Mother Nature's own magic wand, waking the colors in the landscape. You have the heart and soul of a poet, Carrie. Such a beautiful poem! I didn't even realize it was a "mirrored refrain" until I got to the end and saw your note. First place in my book! Love, Carolyn
