Notes About The Poem

Xylophone

X marks the spot - teeny fingers tap colors.
Youngster’s attentive to the rainbow bars.
Language of a rambunctious or prissy toddler.
Oscar music songbook exalts experience.
Potent stick and head, of a kinetic hammer,
Hones in on the eight tones, piercing the eardrum
Of the voracious student sounding the glockenspiel.
Newness of counting, colors, pounding, music;
Eyes, ears, and fine motor skills titillated.

Neat how you started with the "X", Kim, and then continued with the xylophone. Used one of them with my grandkids and kids too (I don't really remember) but you can bet I'll get one for my first expected great grandchild in November.

My younger sister had one... I used to play it all the time. Just something about it drew me do it. Thanks for the flashback... stay well my friend.

Hi Kim, I enjoyed reading your take on the contest theme. I would have never thought of the colors on the Xylophone as a tool for the little ones to learn colors. Maybe music and notes. Are you a teacher? Nevertheless, this is a good write. Best wishes in the contest. Have a great weekend:-) Alexis
