Wrong Turn

Maybe it was a mistake
Not maybe
There is no maybe
It was a mistake
A wrong turn
A forced turn
But my turn
A turn I created
That I didn’t accept
That I took no responsibility for
That I’ve been running from
I’m running from my shadow
And it will always find me
It will always be a part of me
So I have to face it
Because it will destroy a beautiful day
It will destroy a beautiful moment
A beautiful life
If I don’t look in the mirror
Accept the error
Accept the ramifications of the lies
So that dirt can be brushed off
Off of my shoulders
Because that dirt used to be boulders
Time eroded them
But I’m still dirty
I can feel the dirt
And it is on me to brush it off
So I can be clean
Calm
Happy to see my shadow
Each and every day
