The heart
That bears witness to itself
Expresses not for the benefit of others
But for itself
Allowing the tingle of emotion
To carry it on
Into the lighted day
Of reality

Take lightly
The words of others
For their tongues speak
Before their hearts can think
For they not know
The heart 
That exposed itself 
To the world

As I was telling Raul yesterday..a book on Haiku that i got for christmas excuses the strict 5/7/5 for American writers as the syllables in Japanese dont translate exactly. anyway, I appreciate your input and think I will change it if I can figureout how to do it and make sense. I welcome this kindof input , keep it up. BG

I hope that no one has been unkind to Christie or anyone else...words do indeed sting, and once they are said, can never be taken back. I've seen a few unkind comments here and there...but thankfully, most friends here are thoughtful, kind and sincere. I'm so grateful for that. Nice poem...speaks volumns. ~ Carrie
