Written Around Age 30

(Written around age 30...that young poet has been gone forover 40 years. )

I will share, share fully
in man's common oblivion
and seek peace in my heart
o'er peace on earth.
I will carefully and very
deliberately taste
all the food I eat,
bathe often, and
whistle off-key as I please.

I will value every moment
of friendship like sparkling
diamonds on a necklace,
and I'll let my friend's pain
beat on me like my own.

I will try to love women
better, much better--
feel their pain more
but fear them less
as their thighs and breasts
and bottoms run wildly
through my mind like
unruly children in
an orphanage of desire.

And I will breathe better,
filling my lungs to near burst
with the spirit of life... and
finally, I will try learn to have
more patience with
incorrigible death.
that unseen god
whose kiss touches all.

Hi LJ, Congratulations on your winning placement! Through your imagery - "unruly children in an orphanage of desire" - your life goals are wonderfully stated. Very nice!
