Yes. So true, my friend. I do have some long poems but I love forms because they limit us. I just like writing with limitation but I think many prefer total freedom . A great poem

Thank you, Andrea; I love sonnets. My "so called" Free Verse, mix all forms of poetry. I often throw everything at the wall (in one poem)...in an attempt to get something that I like, will affix my name to. It's all good. Not about size...but quality. Poetry need not be defined...only that after a work is read, the reader says: "Now that's poetry!".

Of course...each writer to his or her own. Thank you, Kim. The writer must determine the value. As for my own preference, no secret by now, I find only necessary makeup appealing. It is a delicate balance. There are folks here who write wonderful long poems, and yet use economy of language. Concise well-trimmed poetic language. Less about the length of a poem, and more about fine tuning. Eliminating fatty words that do not enhance the taste of a work. Just my humble opinion -- I am no poetry teacher.
