I say it doesn’t matter to me…
If they listen to the words I write,
Find comfort in the thoughts,
Remember that there is more to me…
Than just a stanza or a verb
I say it doesn’t matter to me…
Yet when they don’t hear my heart,
When they are far from my hope,
And I can’t even find the words…
There is hurt that quakes, a heart
That breaks
I say it doesn’t matter to me…
If they don’t read what I’ve penned,
Find inspiration in what I’ve said,
Yet there is a place deep within me…
Where my pages are wrinkled
With the pain of knowing my words…
Aren’t really heard
