Writer's Block

I’m sitting at my computer, waiting for inspiration.

You know,
that magical moment when poetic words arrive.
And the concept, meaning, and words just flow.

I’m waiting and waiting and nothing….
It is a Christmas Day tragedy
No presents arrive for me.
Only the cold black piece of mental coal…

If only I were more patient
I might have something important to say.
It is annoying to bring lovely lyrics to life
Then find no one home.
When my thoughts are blank
And I just cannot make anything fit.

Santa please bring me words of wisdom today.
My thoughts are encumbered,
And my music has stopped.

Simply focus on shining...the rest will come to you. Lovely write. Fine use of words and imagery. Had me hooked from the beginning. Holidays can be depressing, for no other reason. Blessings. Joe.

You are both a concise reader and a gifted encourager. "focus on shining" moved my heart and touched my soul. Many often miss the double entente. But isn't it fun to find hidden easter eggs within poetry? Thank you

Hi Mary….I enjoyed your poem. I found it a little sad and hope it’s not true….no present or company? Debx
