Write Me a Verse
Dear Poet, write me a verse I can parse
Or, a simple poem that embraces my heart,
Perhaps a sonnet, or even a clever farce,
An endearing message, some truth impart,
Don’t try to impress me with learned word
Or, make me feel I’m not especially smart.
My strong sense of morality undergirds
With sound principles and enticing phrases
When I read you, will my heart be stirred?
So many possibilities, your Muse amazes,
I love to read when your words flow along
But I’m put off by intricate linguistic mazes.
Write me soaring lyrics that sing like a song,
Put heart and soul into it, you can’t go wrong.
