Write
Fool is substituted for intended word
It has been a beautiful day,
warm and true and you've played
through the bulk of it. Now!
Get to work, earn your keep!
Write, you Fool, write!
There are great events moving
in the sky above. Events of which
you are hardly aware. You are but
a snail on the bottom, witness to
the great battle of the seasons!
Write, you Fool, write!
Write how you first became aware
as you walked down the trail to the sun
of how the cool rain on your warm face
caught you by surprise and you looked up.
Write, you Fool, write!
True to your code, your snivelly code,
you pulled up your hood and turned back.
But some saving muse caused you to stop,
and do what a writer should do.
Write, you Fool, write!
Witness the black cloud ridges galloping from the North
that frame and dwarf the high radio towers, each
support line etched in the smoky black pilling in.
Write faster, you're missing it!
Write, you Fool, write!
Write about the lone airplane emerging from chaos,
Southbound, sigh of relief in its arrow straight flight.
Do they mark the rainbow forming out of the eerie half glow
as a promised end to the flight?
Write, you Fool, write!
All that drama in the sky, better than any
film making hack could achieve, or romance
driven scribbler could ever get right!
I stand transfixed on the trail in the chill air.
Write, you Fool, write!
