Woven Worlds

Buoyant orange flames leap like a leopard stalking the sun. Posthumously, the mountain of smoke and ash collapsing on itself, selfishly stomping out joy, but for the Aurora Borealis, the joykill of skullduggery. Her light like song notes, tra-la-la-ing. Her beauty, unscrupulous, to the roaring volcanic beast.
northern lights emeralds and pinks disclosing phantasm peaks valleys of despair

Pure energy and imagery Kim. A woven world so well created. Prose sung to the tune of the tanka! Congratulations on your win!

The prose has undercurrents of the dramatic narrative, echoed in the final phase of the tanka. You lifted us up to the heavens in the prose poetry, only to be cast down in the valleys of despair in the final line of the tanka, creating a stark contrast. You successfully wove the two worlds of tanka and prose together in this feast for the eye and emotional experience by employing various figures of speech (e.g. personification, simile, etc) in this tribute to the force of nature. Congratulations on your fourth place win, Kim.

Kim, it's an interesting contrast. The separate phenomena go on...one unaffected by the other. The local portion of our universe contains some amazing things to view and contemplate.

Love how you said that…an interesting contrast, unaffected by each other. God bless you, Duke!

I didn't get opportunity to watch Great Aurora Borealis. A desire remained unfulfilled in this life. Love.

I haven’t seen a volcano or Aurora Borealis in real life. But I did see ash on the road shortly after the eruption of Mount St. Helens. Too bad I didn’t save any to show my kids. They probably would have been underwhelmed anyway. Hugs~
