Notes About The Poem

September 2, 2023
Placed 1st: Read Me Poetry Contest by Silent One

Would You Still Love Me?

If no longer could I inscribe, upon tapestries of rosy skies,
Dreams tinted violet, blossomed in themes amethystine,
And no longer could I weave-in the dreamscapes of life,
Failing to decode the missives of your clandestine smile;

If bluebells, red buds, white magnolias~ blooming spring,
And the tall oaks swaying with the slow dance of willows,
And the zephyrs that undulate ripples, burbling with currents,
Could no longer wow you on the banks of our giggling river;

If rustling trees, whirling leaves, dazzling chromatic glee,
Majestic aspens, sugar maple, fall’s stellar symphony,
And blushed twilight ceding to moonlit night’s euphony,
Could no longer mesmerize you in autumn’s blazing glory;

If frosty season sprinkling snowflakes on enchanted evening,
Bedecking face of prairies, enlivening decaying meadows,
And sun’s aureate mellowed rays glinting elongated shadows,
Could no longer lure you to the splendor of falling snow;

If I can’t infer love from passions amethyst of rising dawn,
If I can’t decipher meaning of your covert, unfolding smile,
If I can’t invoke spring in budding birth of yellow daffodils,
If I can’t show you autumn in a single golden falling leaf,
If I can’t make you feel, winter’s angst in shuttering trees;

Then I am afraid, it must be true, a poet I have ceased to be;
And yet, I hear you say my dear, forever you will love me.

Oh Vijay this is one hell of a poem and so brilliant on my theme.. its such a shame that you did not enter it, as it would have been first place.. You write romance so well and I can see you were inspired by your ink to pen such a lovely poem with so many questions of yearning.. love that ending.. we sacrifice so much for love

And why should she not, poetic talent such as yours touches the heart, the soul, and spirit which translates into love between you and her for evermore. Having said the above, how could such elegant, enchanting, eloquent writes cease to enrich your platinum pen, impossible, you will go down one day, still far away, in history, as more poems are to follow, and known with the likes of Wordsworth, Shakespeare , Poe and other famous poets. Kudos Vijay for a breathtaking masterpiece. BLESSINGS Jen

"And the tall oaks swaying with the slow dance of willows," -- beautiful, soothing, rocking imagery. "Could no longer wow you on the banks of our giggling river;" -- Love it! A fine poem throughout. I think you would be loved no matter what, would the world run out of ink, and every tree and slate spent of its ability to record. Then the sands and seas would carry your lyric heart, touching all, in their endless romantic flowing.

As far as I'm concerned you are one of the few poets whose majesty deserves a crown. Every word is in its place, every emotion whispers love, whilst best of all is your imagery which evokes paintings. Best for a win.

Wowwww, this is without a doubt one of the best pieces I've read in a long while!!! The depth, imagery, rhythmic flow, alliteration, flowery ambience.. Ahh, everything sounds so mellifluous in this! There are so many lines that i loved and they made me dive in their oceanic vastness.. "If I can't show you autumn in a single golden falling leaf" Breathtaking! There's so much to absorb and decipher within these eloquently carved verses, I especially am amazed by those ending lines too,so heartfelt
