World's Greatest Clown (Pt. 2)

Laughter and confusion swayed through the masses.
The attempt to spark the awakened spirit had failed.

To this you laughed joyously
And ran out of town,
The imprint of your mud tracks:
The world’s greatest clown.

The softening current sways without prejudice
Unheard and unfelt by all.
Until the Earth is wounded enough for the clouds to fall
Until mother and man break bread and walk in wonder through the walls
Until heaven and earth meet at a common junction to make prank calls.

Wow....there is so much to read between the lines...the metaphors in this daily walk through life...such amazing writing, Matt...the deep, thoughtful poetic way of speaking of living under the mask of everyday life. Excellent!! Love, Carrie ps....I have just discovered the fictional character contest results, and I'm so pleased to be among the other winning poems. Thanks so much for this honor...looking forward to the next one!! :)
