There was a species that thought itself smart That lived without harmony in its heart Used earth as a dumping place While asking God for His grace But God ordered it to change or to part! * © Demetrios Trifiatis 09 June 2018 10-10-7-7-10 * Yesterday, June 8 was World Oceans Day. It was celebrated around the world to make us aware of the damage we have caused to our oceans. They say that 6.3 billion tons of plastic have been thrown into them which means, as the General Secretary of UN has said, that by 2050 we will have more plastic than fish in the oceans. Right now five vortexes ( Islands) of plastic have been formed and the largest one is in the North Pacific which is twice the size of Texas or four times the size of Germany. This Limerick is my humble effort to raise awareness of the damage we have caused to our oceans and the risks our species takes!

We humans have condemned us to many evils that are to come. I am a very optimistic man but in this case the game is lost for humanity because plasics take up to four centuries to discompose and we have not that much time to wait! Thank you my friend for your concern. God bless you!

Oh my, sigh. And just waiting to hear a story on the radio about how fish don't even contain the same nutritional level as they used to. The Plastic Age will be our legacy. So sad. hugs n love mo

All the pollution that we pass to the food chain comes back to haunt us in the form of diseases! If we do not learn to respect nature, nature will not respect us! Thank you sweet Maureen!

A great call to humanity for deep awareness and urgent action to help preserve the whole universe and the natural habitats of other species.. Some, perhaps! Most, too difficult! All, impossible unless we change our ways! . The plastic to decompose takes up to four centuries!!! Thank you my friend!
