Working Our Butts Off

Precisely why are we here today
  working out butts off for so little pay
When will we have universal basic income
  For that, let's get out there and bang the drum

Work can be tedious, deadly, demeaning
  especially when it's arduous scrubbing and cleaning
They say that 'Hard work's never hurt anyone'
  What if we find out ~ They're totally wrong!

Everything on those islands costs at least two or three times the price of items for sale in the continental 48 states. All others will get their universal guaranteed income, which will no doubt grow larger every couple of years. I don't know anymore, truth be told. Maybe it's all for the best, although I don't think it augurs well for crime reduction at all. Peace, Gershon
