Words Never Ceased

Once long ago our words never ceased
Filling the air with each word we released
Dreams and plans we regularly shared
Told promises of a future we could prepare

But now as I watch the sun set
And the moon rises in the east
I sit beside you silent
Listening to you breathe

I wait for you to speak
To show you feel me there
But only silence fills the space
Making me wonder, do you still care?
