Words Lost

Many times my mind wandered
to tell you of my love.
Each time I spun the words I carried inside,
yet waited—vast, like the deep ocean.

My voice stalled halfway—
struck by epiphany, love is unequal.
Now I see my feelings only imitate love,
like light that shimmers briefly on shifting sand.
