Wondering Beside the Sea

Beside the foaming waves;
The swell of surf and sea.
Barefoot in the sugar sand
With my best friend, who is me.
There we marvel at the mystery
And contemplate eternity.
The horizon feels a life away--
For endless seems the sea today!
And there, alone, with only me,
My one and only friend...
We wonder at beginnings
With no apparent end.
And we ruminate--the two of us,
Just my friend, alone with me;
Is time a thing cast far adrift...
And as endless as the sea?

Hey cuz...what up? I can feel the trades blowing from here. Anyway, I'm still around, lurking in the shadows, but ready to appear as needed--like Batman! I'll keep the name going...till my grand sons take over. One of em better be a poet!!!!!

I believe it is so important to be our own best friend, because that only comes with a total understanding and honesty with self. When that is reached such contemplations are quite understandable and expected. I very much enjoyed this, Mel.... Robert.

Thank you Robert. It's inspiring to know that there are people out there like you, who read and appreciate my recollections in moments of tranquility. All the best, my friend...Mel

The sea is my favorite place to walk also. Really enjoyed your poem. I like that you are your own best friend. Self love is so important, you see the world different from those who carry guilt and regrets. Thanks. Blessings.

Oh, I have my share of those, which means I'm human. Thank you, though, for the read and kind words. Blessings to you as well :)

I come and go, like the wind. Good to know you're here when I do blow by, for a welcome laugh, or needed cry. Look to the stars, my dear...I'm the second to the right, twinkling for you :)

Wonderful Mel...time does seem to be adrift but is finite... There is an end. Most just don't know when......cheers

Thanks Tim! Threw that on an envelope while in the dentist's office--go figure. Time...an end? I don't know, nor am I sure I want to. An end to mortality, yes, but I suppose I'd rather not know when, where or how. Life's a trip!
