Notes About The Poem

- Wonderful Music To Our Ears -

Emptiness is so great,
a big piece of heart is gone
The anxiety spreads in the body
so incredibly cruel
The child died in the womb before week 24
A birth without hope
born in silence and died in silence
A small white coffin
Goodbye my first child


Grief, fear and hope
The desire to have a child again was strong
But the fear left shade on the joy
The pregnancy was so exhausting
Frightening feelings and lack of control
Nine months can be a long time
A beautiful summer day, the time had come
The new child was born and cried
with powerful lungs
Whether you believe it or not
it was a wonderful music to our ears

Jennifer Proxenos February 13, 2019 at 12:26 PM Hi Sunshine Smile - I see below from Carolyn's comment that this is for a poetry contest, a very heart rending exp. to lose a child especially when he is born full term and dies 5 days later. And the utimate feeling of ecstatic joy when you have a 2nd healthy bouncy baby who cries with his first breath - breathtaking! This happened to me in reality Sunshine Smile, I have written 2 poems some time ago, one is called The cry of an Angel and the other one An Answer to a Prayer. Poetry Hugs, JP.
