Woman In a Doorway
Take me away, this place is hard and cold,
wind bites my bones, rain stings my naked skin.
Just let me have a home before I’m old.
The sadness from these stones has taken hold,
it eats my flesh, beginning from within.
Take me away, this place is hard and cold.
What brought me here, how did this tale unfold?
Where did this life of misery begin?
Just let me have a home before I’m old.
Please someone, put some colour in my world,
paint out the grey, put pink and purple in.
Take me away, this place is hard and cold.
I don’t want a mansion, that would be bold,
only four walls where I feel safe therein.
Just let me have a home before I’m old.
Someone to love me, a circle of gold,
my best dream of all, a heart I could win.
Take me away, this place is hard and cold,
Just let me have a home before I’m old.
