Witness To the Crucifixion

I have played witness to madness
as I saw that crown of thorns,
As for this bloody crucifixion
I cannot hear the horns

As the desert sun is descending
the crescent moon arise,
You say " why hast thou forsaken me"
as the life light leaves your eyes

As they remove you from the wooden cross
your body still and slack,
Little did I know just then
that you would soon be back

I hold you as you're growing cold
your mother at my side,
Nicodemus watches over you
as he did when you died

Soon, they will take you away
and place you in your tomb,
The stone placed before the open door
safe, as in your Mothers womb

Three days hence, we'll visit you
and will find that you are not there,
We think someone has taken you
but you're in God's right chair

You will ascend up into heaven
yes, then God will send you back,
it's hard to think of all of that
as I hold your body, still and slack

Yes, I was a witness
all of my love, you have earned,
I will solemnly wait for you
until the time that you return.
