Line Gauthier Poet Free verse

Without a String

in one grievous gasp
slipping through a gaping hole
my heart took to the air

bruised yet numb
with weightlessness
like a runaway balloon

suspended in flight
adrift at the whim
of a carefree breeze

no rhyme or reason
hovering as if to meet
the clouds or the moon

without a string
a freedom with no direction
resigned to what will be
